Dinner Date Chapter One: Calling It In
John called in his bet, and Adrian had no choice but to do what he said. What does the dinner date have in store?
“I will feel like the third wheel!” I snapped at my friend John.
“No, you won’t!” John laughed; he was laughing because he knew he had me.
I had lost a bet a while ago and told him I owed him. Now, he was calling that in.
“She’s your girlfriend’s mother! Not mine!” I slammed my hand on the steering wheel and looked at him.
“You’re going, you owe me, remember,” John smiled as he sat in the passenger seat.
Olive wanted John to meet her mother before they moved in together. I thought they were moving too fast, and I didn’t like Olive at all!
She was a sex worker, and not even a good one; she copied and pasted one of her photos a million times all over the internet on every site with those stupid headlines like
‘Don’t you wish I were your girlfriend?’ or ‘I am looking for a stable relationship and a good friend, but many men don’t like me.’
When did those pick-me-up lines work? Some of them were worse than the lines guys used at the bar.
John offered her a life outside of that kind of work, and she took it. She didn’t work, and she was not even doing her usual thing anymore. She mooched off John, and now he was going to let her move in with him.
I felt like she was using him from the start, but of course, a big butt and a smile were all it took to get certain men hooked.
I reluctantly got out of the car and stepped into the restaurant.
“John, Adrian, over here!” Olive shouted.
I took a deep breath and walked over to the table.
Olive was there, and as usual, she had her face painted on. Olive wore more makeup than anyone I knew, and it wasn’t attractive. Even some other people at the restaurant were staring our way.
“I already ordered a drink and some appetizers,” Olive grinned as John sat beside her. “You don’t mind, do you?”
“Of course not,” John stared at her.
I didn’t mind, because he was paying for everything. All I had to do was be here.
“She’s running late,” Olive said.
“It’s okay,” John looked over at me as I was already looking at the drink menu. “Already?”
“If I am going to be here, I am going to drink!” I didn’t even look at them.
“He still doesn’t like me!” Olive said in a high-pitched whine. “Why?”
‘So many reasons!’ I thought without saying a word.
“You can at least try!” John barked at me as he put the menu down.
“Nothing about our agreement tells me I should try! I shot back.
“What’s going on here?” A mature woman approached the table.
“Mom!” Olive stood up and hugged the lady.
“Madeline,” the lady responded by patting Olive’s back.
“Madeline?” John and I asked at the same time.
“That’s her real name, the name I gave her, before she went online and did all that crap!” the lady sat down beside me.
I stifled a laugh. “So,” I looked at the woman sitting beside me, “Her real name is Madeline?”
“Yup, Olive is the name of her first dog, a female dog!” the lady explained. “What a bitch that thing was, peed everywhere, no matter how hard we tried to train it!”
“Mom!” Madeline exclaimed.
“What?” her mom shook her head. “You invited me, you know I don’t hold my tongue!”
The wait staff member came to the table. Everyone got their drink order put in and looked at the menus.
Joanna, Madeline’s mom, signaled the young man back to ask a question about something she wanted to order.
“Thank you for telling me to come,” I whispered across the table to John.
So far, Joanna had called her daughter a gold digger, a lazy gold digger. She told me that Madeline only got into online modeling, as Joanna called it, because she was too lazy to get a job. Her cousin was making money doing it, so Madeline thought she could.
“They aren’t talking to you,” Joanna snapped her fingers to get the poor guy’s attention. “I am!”
The poor guy was caught staring at Joanna’s tremendous knockers. She wasn’t even trying to hide them in a low-cut top that was more like a sports bra than a shirt.
“Well, tell them about yourself mom!” Madeline folded her arms like a spoiled child. “Mom works at a sex shop, and she was a stripper before that!”
“I own, if you are going to try to put me down, use facts, not feelings!” Joanna grinned as she pointed a fork at her daughter. “I own four sex shops and help at one until I can get the management position filled. And yes, I was a stripper. How do you think I met her father?”
“Don’t bring dad into this!” Madelina warned her mother.
“Your father was a sex addict! He loved sex, was addicted to sex, and I wasn’t the only one he was shoving his cock into, so good riddance!”
“I am thankful you asked me to come!” I whispered to John, who was still trying to get over the fact that his girlfriend was a gold digger and had been with multiple guys who would get her things and let her move in with them.
The look on his face when Joanna told him that Madeline had just told her about another guy, two weeks before telling her about him, was absolutely priceless.
“I don’t know why some men don’t like strippers,” Joanna said. “The sex trade or business is the oldest form of business there is, second to religion.”
“Oh, here we go!” I got comfortable in my seat. “John, here is a hardcore Christian!”
“And you are with her!” Joanna instantly glanced up at him. “You must be the dumbest one of her boy toys I have met yet!”
“Mom!” Madeline responded.
“She has never stepped foot in a church, I think she would burst into flames if she did!” Joanna shook her head. “Did you know that she had sex with a priest in the graveyard behind our church back home? Or that she sucked the cock of his son just a few hours later! The son of the man she had just fucked!”
Joanna went completely off. Poor John wanted to leave. I could see it in his face. When he heard about his girlfriend’s escapades after high school, and the sheer number of guys she had been with, I started feeling sorry for him.
“Go ahead,” I stopped laughing as I knew John. He might be a desperate asshole, but he was an okay friend, not the best friend or anything like that, but he was okay. I put the keys to my car on the table and pushed them across. “I got it.”
“Thanks,” John said with his head down.
“John!” Madeline chased after him as he took off for the door.
There was silence for a while between Joanna and me. “So,” I smiled. “What other things have you got to say on anything?”
“Sweetie, I can go on for days!” Joanna smiled at me.
“Well, maybe we should set up another dinner date?” I grinned. “Just the two of us?”
“Would love that!” Joanna grinned.
