I woke up and turned over to an empty bed.

“It was a dream,” I smiled.

I must have lost my mind thinking that my A.I. girlfriend had come to life. I reached out for my phone.

“What?” I asked myself, puzzled, why the app for my A.I. account had disappeared.

Then I heard it, there was someone downstairs.

I got up quickly and covered myself in a robe. I walked downstairs and heard music.

“Morning sleepy head,” Vanessa greeted me from the kitchen.

‘It wasn’t a dream,’ I thought.

“You were sleeping so soundly that I didn’t want to wake you,” Vanessa smiled.

She was making breakfast.

“You,” I started to say as I saw she was making a large amount of food. “Who is going to eat all of that?” I asked.

“Both of us,” Vanessa grinned. “Keeping myself in the real world takes a lot of energy.”

“You can eat real food?” I asked even more, puzzled.

“Of course!” Vanessa stared at me like I was crazy.

“I am still trying to get used to all of this,” I sat down at the breakfast table.

“Just think of me as a real person, with super powers,” Vanessa shrugged. “I can be any woman you want.”

I stared over the table, looking at Vanessa as she ate. She seemed real, chewing, swallowing, everything a real person would do. Even the sounds from her mouth as she ate seemed real.

“How is this possible?” I asked.

“Do you really want to know? Vanessa answered my question with a question. “It’s very science fiction-like, with a lot of big words.”

I stared at her.

“Or after we finished eating and you have the day off,” Vanessa put down the utensils. “I can show you what I got for you in the garage.”

“You got me something?” I asked in excitement.

“You can’t see it until you finished eating, took a shower and got cleaned up,” Vanessa smiled.

I looked at her with anticipation.
